The Cornerstone: An Exhibition Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Kwai Fung

Founded in 1991, Kwai Fung is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. On this occasion, the gallery is expanding its scope, opening a new space in the century-old heritage compound - Tai Kwun.

 

The first exhibition in Tai Kwun, The Cornerstone showcases fifteen carefully selected artworks, reviewing the milestones and achievements of Kwai Fung in the past 30 years. Since 1991, Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery is dedicated to promoting Chinese and international artists with a cross-cultural background, through well-curated exhibitions, in-depth research, collaborations with art museums, publishing artist monographs, producing lithographs, and organizing educational programs, presenting its philosophy and mission. The cornerstone of our gallery is built upon 30 years of passion, curiosity, vision, imagination, boldness, decisiveness, endurance and determination.

 

The exhibited artists include, French-Chinese female artist Lalan, renowned abstraction painter Zao Wou-ki, the "Father of Lyrical Abstraction" Georges Mathieu, ink master Li Huayi, Chinese Realism painter Ai Xuan, Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, etc. The Cornerstone also presents limited edition lithographs by Chinese contemporary artist Zhang Xiao Gang, published by the Kwai Po Collection in 2002, as well as the monographs published since 2006: Zao Wou-ki 1935 - 2008, Li Huayi: Landscapes from A Master's Heart and Ai Xuan: for A Silent Dreamland from A Master's Heart.
