Ink Asia 2016

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 16 - 18 Dec 2016
Booth D2

Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery presented the works by Li Huayi, Liu Dan, Nancy Chu Woo and Ma Desheng at Ink Asia 2016 Booth D2. Rooted in Chinese traditional ink paintings, they all pursue a contemporary artistic expression of landscape, a typical subject in traditional ink paintings in abstract or realistic style, with their unique perspectives.

Inspired by Song dynasty ink maters Li Cheng, Fan Kuan and Guo Xi, Li Huayi creates monumental ink paintings with refined strokes and amplifying perspectives. His paintings revitalize and transform the ink tradition into unprecedented three-dimensional dreamscapes, opening a new direction for Chinese ink painting in the 21st Century, one that incorporates a global sophistication and the connection with nature.

Liu Dan extracts the subject from the environment through enlarging and focusing the details, presenting another dimension of landscape from a micro perspective of the world.

Nancy Chu Woo creates her own unique style of splashed ink landscape painting, mixing the ink with gouache colours to create brilliant abstract compositions, depicting the minute changes of light in landscape.

Ma Desheng's landscape paintings are filled with power and suspension in black and white contrast, revealing his admiration for the nature.
