Xue Song: Meta- Nature Book launch: Asia Society Hong Kong Center

3 Jul 2025

Artist Xue Song’s large-scale solo exhibition, “Meta-Nature”, continues to captivate audiences, igniting vibrant discussions across Chinese social media. The exhibition traces his artistic journey of four decades and contextualizes his significance in the development of Chinese contemporary art through a comprehensive display of artworks and archival materials.

His recent “The Dao from Nature” series, inspired by Taoist philosophy since 2019, is the highlight of the exhibition, sparking deeper conversations on the evolution of Chinese contemporary art over the last forty years among the younger generations.

In anticipation of the soon-to-be-released exhibition catalogue, our gallery is thrilled to announce a special book launch event and is honored to have the artist present. The event will feature a dynamic dialogue between Dr. Jiang Jun, the exhibition’s curator, and Ms. Catherine Kwai, Founder & CEO of Kwai Fung Hin.

Dr. Jiang Jun, a prominent curator in China, will share insights from his experience curating Xue Song’s exhibitions and provide an in-depth analysis of the global rise of Chinese contemporary artists over the past decade. Ms. Kwai will offer her firsthand account on the transformation of Chinese contemporary art and discuss the importance of building artist archives based on her years of experience.

The dialogue will be followed by a book-signing session. We cordially invite you to join this event to celebrate the closing of the exhibition while sustaining the discourse of Chinese contemporary art.
