Kwai Fung Hin Expands Team with Six New Hires and One Promotion

Since celebrating its 30th anniversary, Kwai Fung Hin Gallery has undertaken a strategic expansion and recently welcomed seven members of staff to its management team, including six new hires and one internal promotion. The newly appointed roles are Gallery Director, Associate Director, Gallery Manager, Head of Research, Associate Director (Curatorial), Operations Manager and Gallery Manager (Marketing, Events and Partnerships).

 

"Entering the gallery's fourth decade, we are delighted to welcome Dorothy Lin, Elaine Wang, Timmy Kam, Marian Ang, Gladys Wu, Joe Chan and Bella Li to Kwai Fung Hin's management team to further strengthen our operations in Asia," said Catherine Kwai, Founder & CEO of Kwai Fung Hin. "With their extensive experience and expertise covering both the primary and secondary art markets, our new members will serve the gallery well in its next chapter, helping to further our mission of promoting East-West artistic dialogue, and supporting our artists whilst sharing their visionary works with audiences around the world through curatorial and educational programming, institutional collaborations and innovative cultural initiatives."

Dorothy Lin, Gallery Director, will lead the sales team to grow the gallery's business in Asia and beyond. Before joining Kwai Fung Hin, Dorothy was the Head of Sale for the Modern and Contemporary Art department at Bonhams Asia. Together with her team, she set the current world auction record for Léonard-Tsuguharu Foujita in 2018 and organised the first-ever retrospective exhibition of Richard Lin in Hong Kong in 2019. Dorothy has ten years of experience in primary market, secondary market and independent art institutions.

 

Elaine Wang, Associate Director, will lead the gallery's strategic and brand-building activities in mainland China. She will also assist the Hong Kong team with exhibition planning and art fair participation, as well as developing the gallery's secondary market presence. Before joining Kwai Fung Hin, Elaine was a Specialist at Poly Auction Hong Kong for 6 years. During the time at Poly Auction, she established strong relationships with collectors and institutions across Asia and gained an extensive knowledge of the secondary market.

 

Timmy Kam is appointed Gallery Manager and will oversee gallery operations to provide the ultimate luxury bespoke client experience. She joins Kwai Fung Hin with ten years of experience in the art world and was previously Assistant Gallery Manager at Sotheby's Hong Kong. Prior to her current role, Timmy worked at Chanel in Analytics & Project Administration.

Marian Ang joins as Head of Research. In this newly created role, Marian will lead in-depth research on the oeuvres of artists and assist with the gallery's curatorial and educational programming. Previously Cataloguer and NFT Lead for the 20th Century and Contemporary Art team at Phillips Asia, Marian is a graduate of the Courtauld Institute of Art in London and has also worked as a consultant for UNESCO in the field of cultural heritage protection, specialising in the illicit trafficking of art and antiquities.

 

Gladys Wu has just been promoted to Associate Director (Curatorial) and will lead the curatorial team to develop innovative and in-depth presentations of artists' trajectories and their works through gallery and institutional exhibitions, publications and other projects. In her nine years at the gallery, Gladys has been involved in the launch of over 40 exhibitions, as well as the publication of monographs and exhibition catalogues, documentary production and the establishment of digital archives for artists Lalan and Li Huayi.

Joe Chan is appointed Operations Manager. Joe joins with over nine years of experience from Sotheby's Hong Kong, where he was involved in the successful staging of over fifty exhibitions and sales across different categories of fine art and luxury goods. He will assist the curatorial team with all aspects of exhibition and art fair planning and execution, as well as oversee general operations at Kwai Fung Hin, including logistics, warehouse management, installation, framing and restoration.

Bella Li joins as Gallery Manager (Marketing, Events and Partnerships). In her role, Bella will further enhance the gallery's brand presence across Asia and develop a seamless digital experience for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Bella joins Kwai Fung Hin with 8 years of marketing experience in the primary and secondary art markets as well as the luxury industry.
