On 20th November 2018, Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery celebrated one of the Hong Kong’s most prominent female artists Nancy Chu Woo, for the opening ceremony of her solo exhibition Wandering Colours and Light at the gallery.
A passionate and devoted artist, Nancy Chu Woo earned her BFA from Cornell University in 1963, and her Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1964. She studied under Lingnan School masters Zhao Shao’ang and Yang Shanshen to absorb the essence and skills of traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting. This inspired her to develop her own unique style of splashed ink landscapes, nudes, and still-lifes, in which she mixes ink with gouache colours to create brilliant, semi-abstract compositions.
Exhibition Curator Pan Qing describes her work as a combination of traditions of East and West to achieve a unique “degree of richness and beauty, a level that others dreamed of but failed to reach. The result: dazzling sceneries.”
We share our gratitude for everyone’s support and welcome you to visit the exhibition which is on view until 22 December!
